VoiceStream App Privacy Policy
What the VoiceStream mobile app collects, why, and who it is shared with.
Last updated: 1 September 2026
VoiceStream is a business phone and messaging app for customers of APITS Network (“we”, “us”). It connects to your organisation’s phone system so you can make and receive work calls and reply to customer messages from your phone.
This policy explains what the app collects, why, and who it is shared with. It covers the VoiceStream Android app. For the voice-stream.com website, see our website privacy policy.
1. Who controls your data
The app is provided to you by your employer or the organisation that gave you your account. That organisation decides what data is held and for how long — they are the data controller. We operate the service on their behalf.
If you want your data corrected or deleted, ask your organisation’s administrator first. You can also contact us at privacy@voice-stream.com.
2. What the app collects
Your account
Your username, email address, display name, and the organisation and phone extension assigned to you. Used to sign you in and to route your calls.
Calls
Records of calls made and received through your extension — the number at the other end, the time, the duration and the outcome. These are your organisation’s business phone records and are held on their system, not created by the app.
The app does not record call audio. Audio travels between your phone and your organisation’s phone system to connect the call, and is not stored by the app.
Messages
If your organisation uses the WhatsApp Business Platform, the app shows those conversations and lets you reply. Messages, along with any photos, files, voice notes or locations you send, are delivered through Meta Platforms, Inc. and stored on your organisation’s system.
Your device
- A push notification token from Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, so calls and messages can reach you when the app is closed. We send Google nothing but this token and the word “android”.
- Your wallet balance, where your organisation uses prepaid calling.
3. Permissions, and what each one is for
| Permission | Why | Optional? |
|---|---|---|
| Microphone | So the other person can hear you on a call. | No — calls need it |
| Notifications | To tell you about an incoming call or message. | No |
| Full-screen notifications | To show the call screen and wake the display when a call arrives while your phone is locked. | No |
| Ignore battery optimisation | So calls still reach you after your phone has been idle. Without it Android may delay or drop the notification that makes your phone ring. | No |
| Contacts | To show a caller’s name instead of a number. | Yes |
| Location | Only when you choose “Location” to share where you are in a chat. | Yes |
| Photos, media and files | Only when you attach something to a message. | Yes |
Your phone’s contacts are never uploaded. They are read on your device to match an incoming number to a name, and the result never leaves your phone.
Location is read only at the moment you tap “Location” in a conversation. The app does not track your location in the background or at any other time.
4. What the app does not do
- No advertising, and no data sold or shared with advertisers.
- No analytics or tracking. The app contains no analytics, crash-reporting or advertising SDKs of any kind.
- No profiling. Your usage is not analysed to build a profile of you.
- No call recording by the app.
- No access to your other apps, messages, photos or browsing.
5. Who your data is shared with
| Who | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your organisation | Everything above | They run the phone system and hold your business records |
| Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) | A push token and the word “android” | To deliver notifications to your phone |
| Meta Platforms (WhatsApp Business Platform) | The content of WhatsApp messages you send and receive | It is WhatsApp’s own network |
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone else except where the law requires it.
6. How long it is kept
Call and message records are kept by your organisation under their retention policy — ask your administrator. Your push token is deleted when you sign out or uninstall the app.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct, export or delete your data, or to object to how it is used. Because your organisation controls that data, start with your administrator. You can also reach us at privacy@voice-stream.com and we will help.
Deleting your account and your data
Accounts are created for you by your organisation’s administrator — there is no sign-up inside the app. To have your account deleted, ask your administrator, or email privacy@voice-stream.com from your work address and we will action the request with your organisation within 30 days.
Deleting your account removes your profile, your extension assignment and your push notification token. Call and message records are your organisation’s business records and are kept or deleted under their retention policy.
8. Security
Sign-in tokens are held in Android’s encrypted, hardware-backed keystore. Calls and messages travel over encrypted connections (TLS/SRTP). Your phone’s own lock screen is an important part of this — anyone who can unlock your phone can see your work calls and conversations.
9. Children
VoiceStream is a workplace tool and is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Changes
If this policy changes we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will be announced in the app.
